FC RANGERS Reserves progressed into the semi-final of the WHSFL Division Three League Cup with a 3-2 victory over high-flying Thundridge United.

With the tie poised at 2-1 in Rangers' favour from the first leg, it was always going to be a close encounter on Sunday.

Dan Zienkowicz opened the scoring for FC Rangers. He was able to head home a fine cross from Andy Philby with ease.

He soon notched his second from the spot after leading veteran marksman Simon Braine was fouled in the box.

Just before the half-time whistle Thundridge United managed to pull one back.

The second half saw man-of-the-match Zienkowicz complete his hat-trick with a stunning overhead kick after some good team play.

Rangers should have extended the lead but chances which fell to Braine and Adam Gwilt went begging.

With minutes remaining, Thundridge pulled a goal back and even had time to hit the post in the closing stages.

But the final whistle soon came which saw Rangers go through to the last four.
