Potters Bar Town are out of the FA Trophy after a 2-1 first qualifying round replay defeat to Whitstable Town on Monday night.

The first clash between the two had been drawn 2-2, a game which saw three red cards, on Saturday leading to Monday’s encounter at the Pakex Stadium.

With a tie against Hythe Town in the second qualifying round on offer, both sides fancied their chances.

First blood went to the hosts as Josh Hutchinson looped a header from a corner over keeper Luke Watkins and in on 23 minutes.

That is how the game stayed at half-time, with Bar unfortunate not to be further ahead.

That was to prove costly as just five minutes into the second period the scores were level.

Whitstable’s Ashley Baverstock fired in.

Still reeling from that, Bar conceded a second just two minutes later. This time it was the away side’s turn to net from a corner with Joe Kane finding space to nod in what proved to be the winner.
