Fifth placed FC Lemsford met Herts Senior County League Division One leaders Knebworth on Saturday and they played out a goalless draw.

Knebworth keeper Adam Burnett prevented a setback for his team on 25 minutes by producing a fine diving save from Lemsford’s Niall Coates.

With the teams cancelling each other out for the most part of the clash, a draw looked the likely outcome.

There was a setback for Lemsford when right back Sam Robson was side-lined with a finger dislocation 15 minutes into the second half.

With a depleted squad on the day he was replaced by veteran player-coach Cliff Baylis, who amazingly came closest to scoring in the last period, being denied yet again by a diving Burnett.

Lemsford almost collected all three points in the closing minutes.

Captain Grant Turville produced a sparkling run on the right flank, turning the ball back for brother Glen whose shot sailed high between the rugby pitch uprights behind the goal.
