CODICOTE have now scored 13 goals in their opening two Spartan South Midlands Division One games following Tuesday night’s 5-3 away victory against Harpenden Town.

And new-signing from Stotfold Paul Garrett continued his dream start to life at Codicote with another two goals, to go alongside the five he netted in the 8-2 opening-day victory against Chesham United Reserves.

Other scorers against Harpenden were Craig Arnott (two) and Adam Furness.

Liam Errington’s outfit host Crawley Green on Saturday in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round - their first ever appearance in the competition.

Things didn’t go quite to plan for Welwyn Garden City as they fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Division One new-boys FC Broxbourne Borough.

This game at Broxbourne’s Goffs Lane home had marked similiarites to the Citizens’ opener at Bedford three days before. In both cases, WGC got edged out by the odd goal, but their display deserved at least a point.

Sheldon Hussey’s goal only six minutes into the encounter turned out to be the winner.

After two defeats in their first two league games of the season, both away, Citizens boss Adam Fisher will be hoping for better luck as his side host Stony Stratford Town in the league on Saturday.
