AFC Hatfield secured a 1-1 Herts Senior County League Division One draw at home with second in the table AFC Oaklands at Roe Hill on Saturday.

When Mark Zienkowicz’s AFC played Oaklands away two months ago they were well beaten, but a rapidly improving AFC side gave a good account of themselves this time around.

The teams went into the break goalless after a half where AFC had looked very assured in all departments.

Four minutes into the second half, Hatfield were awarded a corner on the left which Daryl Smith took and Billy Dean headed home.

Six minutes later though it was all square when Oaklands substitute Scott Cleland fired home a loose ball.

Oaklands pushed hard for a winner in the closing minutes and nearly got it, but Dean cleared off the line.

AFC’s man of the match award sponsored by The Galleria was given to left back Ross Davidson.
