Welwyn Garden City have wasted little time in replacing Adam Fisher as manager with a familiar face.
WGC-based Dean Barker is the new man in the Herns Lane hotseat, with his appointment being until the end of the season.
Barker has managerial experience at Cockfosters and Northwood as well as with Potters Bar District Schools who he led to national cup success.
A former player with Cockfosters, Barker became their record goalscorer with 50 goals in the 2008-09 season before going on to manage the club to eighth and third placed finishes in the Spartan South Midlands League, the best in the club’s history.
From there he joined Wingate & Finchley in a combined first team coach/U23 manager role and that caught the eye of Northwood, with the Bostik League Division One South Central side appointing him as manager in the summer.
That lasted until October when he left the club sitting in seventh place.
A schoolteacher by profession, he will bring in his own backroom team.
