STRIKER Jax Bryceland hit a brace as Sherrardswood Ladies beat Sandy Ladies 3-0 away at the weekend.

Sherrardswood got back to winning ways in a game that started in wind and driving rain.

The conditions made the pitch very slippery and both teams found it difficult to control the ball.

Within 15 minutes, however, Sue Hart opened the scoring for Sherrardswood with a strike from just inside the six-yard area.

She controlled with her left foot and hit a hard shot at the keeper, who could not stop the ball going into the back of the net.

This was followed by some excellent chances for Bryceland and Maggie Hall.

There was very little for the away defence to deal with in the first 45 minutes.

The second goal came just before the break from in-form forward Bryceland.

She received a cross just outside the penalty box delivered by her sister Ellen Hemson.

After shaking off a defender, the attacker hit the ball home.

Sherrardswood brought on Emily Davey and Naomi Totten in the second half.

Sandy Ladies started to create some good chances, opening up the Sherrardswood defence on the odd occasion.

Visiting goalkeeper Paula Collis showed her confidence and assured ability between the sticks.

Bryceland then sealed the win with another goal.

This time a delivery from the halfway line came from Ellen Hemson.

The striker found herself one-on-one with the keeper and she slotted the ball into the left corner.

In order for SWFC to retain their lead, they brought on a fresh pair of legs in Andrea Herbert for Katie Jones.

Neither team really created much in the final 20 minutes of the game, which stopped and started with free-kicks and throw-ins.

The game ended up in a 3-0 victory for Sherrardswood Ladies.

Midfielder Ellen Hemson was named as player of the match.

SWFC are at home to Bedford Ladies on Sunday at Sherrardswood School.
