Ben L’Honore’s goalscoring purple patch continued as he netted four times in Codicote’s 6-1 win over Mursley United in the Challenge Cup.
Two strikes either side of the break on Wednesday night took L’Honore’s tally to eight goals in his previous three matches with ex Hitchin Town striker Mark Barnes and Ray Ancliff’s accurate chip completing the rout.
Things got off to a great start for Codicote as Sam Stephenson supplied Barnes, who cut inside the defender and from 28 yards, smashed the ball past the Mursley keeper.
The visitors were briefly on level terms, but a double from L’Honore, the first, a sweep home from close range while the second came from the penalty spot.
L’Honore had polished his scoring boots over half-time as he came out firing early in the second phase to strengthen the Cod’s lead.
Another close-range effort was ruthlessly steered home.
The in-form striker was the shining light in this clash but Ancliff’s stunning lob of the Mursley keeper claimed goal of the game.
L’Honore’s fourth rounded off a clinical victory and sees them take on Risborough Rangers in the fourth round.
