Codicote player-manager Liam Errington is irked by what he calls a “lack of commitment” among his players.

The Cod currently lie fifth in Spartan South Midlands Division One at Christmas and have already acquired some notable scalps so far this season including league leaders Welwyn Garden City and former pacesetters Hatfield Town.

Spirited cup displays have also seen them into the last eight of both the Challenge Cup and Challenge Trophy but Errington still believes their league position could have improved with a better attitude.

Speaking after Codicote’s 4-2 win over Southall last Saturday, Errington said: “It’s frustrating because we have beaten all of the teams above us like Bedford, Hatfield and WGC but drop points at teams we should be beating.

“This is mainly because of a lack of commitment from the lads.

“We never have the same side out week in week out which the top teams have.

“We have a run of very tough games against all the teams around us coming up so lets hope the lads can raise their commitment levels and if they do, possibly raise our position further.”
