Potters Bar’s Dean Barker has been appointed the new boss of SSML Premier Division side Cockfosters.
The 31-year-old, who holds the club’s goals scored in a season record, is hoping to guide Cockfosters to a top 10 finish in his first season in charge in what will be his first manager’s position in senior football.
He said: “[The aim is] a top 10 finish and to do well in the cup competitions.
“We want players who want to play at a decent standard of football and want to progress up the football pyramid by doing well for us.”
Barker was approched by the club and after being interviewed landed the role.
“The club is very close to my heart,” he said. “I broke the club record in the 2009/10 season which I still hold for the most goals in a single season 49. the record in 1970 was 42.”
Barker is a PE teacher at Oakmere School and runs their successful sports teams as well as the Potters Bar Primary Schools’ District U11 football side.
He added: “I know youth football and senior football are totally different, but I have been so successful over the years with Oakmere and the district side I hope we can do well at Cockfosters.”
