Welwyn Garden City suffered their fourth defeat in five Spartan South Midlands Premier Division games turned over 2-0 at Cockfosters.

Ben Hart gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break and Courtney Lawrence doubled their advantage in the second period for only their second home win in seven league games.

In SSML Division One, Hendy Manning’s Codicote continue to look nervously over their shoulders at the relegation drop zone as they slipped to a seventh defeat of the season, this time losing 3-1 at Broadfields United.

Meanwhile in cup action, Hatfield Town’s brief foray in the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy is over, beaten 3-1 by Herts Senior County League Premier Division side Chipperfield Corinthians at Gosling Stadium.

Ryan North’s second-half strike gave the Blueboys’ slight salvation at 2-1 but Adrian Abramian’s effort two minutes later ended the home side’s hopes of progression.
