THE Citizens ended a miserable run of five successive league defeats with a five-star display yesterday.

Howard Cowley's men rediscovered their goalscoring form to thrash Oxhey Jets 5-0 at Herns Lane.

It was City's opening Spartan South Midlands League success of 2008 and first clean sheet of the year after conceding a whopping 12 goals against Beaconsfield SYCOB and Harefield United in their two previous Premier Division outings.

Former Hertford Town player Michael Bakare was the star of the show on Saturday.

He gunned down the Jets with a hat-trick. Alex Kinsley was also on target in WGC's 10th league victory of the campaign.

WGC visit Biggleswade Town next Saturday in the league.
