THE Citizens exited the South Midlands League Challenge Trophy on Wednesday with a 4-2 defeat away at Brimsdown Rovers.

WGC went into the third round tie looking to get last Saturday's crushing 8-0 hammering at Beaconsfield SYCOB out of their system.

Neither side found the net in the first 28 minutes, but there were goals galore as five were scored before the break in a crazy 17-minute period.

Rovers took the lead just before the half-hour mark through Eric Managu.

WGC levelled almost immediately through midfielder Alex Kinsley.

The prolific Ashley Taylor-Forbes netted for the hosts on 40 minutes, only for Joe Tabiri to haul the visitors back to parity not long after.

There was still time in the first half for Managu to grab his second of the evening, handing Brimsdown a 3-2 lead at the break.

After getting their breath back during the interval, the watching spectators must have been wondering how many more goals they would see in the second half.

However, there was to be just one more. Dan Bleach sealed the tie for Brimsdown 10 minutes from time.

WGC are back in league action tomorrow (Saturday) when they travel to Harefield United for a Spartan South Midlands Premier Division clash.
