Spartan South Midlands League

WGC conceded five goals for the second consecutive season away to Broxbourne Borough in the Premier League of the SSMFL.

The Citizens, with a depleted squad due to work commitments, were 2-0 down after half an hour with goals from Broxbourne duo Ryan Wade and Danny Ward.

But only three minutes later Ryan Gordon, recalled to the side, scored a good goal to give the Citizens hope for the second half.

And only a minute after the break the Herns Lane club drew level through an effort from defender Nathan Frater, and the game was there for the taking.

The equaliser seemed to stir Dave Cooper's patched up side into action, and they were looking comfortable at this point.

That was until the home side benefited from some poor WGC defensive play, and Lawal Alhadi tapped home to make the score 3-2.

Boro got a fourth with a spectacular Wade volley from the edge of the box in the 65th minute.

Rob Kemble sealed the victory with a fifth only five minutes later.

After the game, former Hitchin coach Cooper said: "I am obviously disappointed with the result, but we were missing a lot of players.
