BRUCE Tahon produced a five-star display as Hatfield Town thrashed Nazeing Youth in the Mid Herts Rural Minors Under-18 League Shield.
Sunday's cup tie was Hatfield's first match for five weeks, but Town showed no signs of rustiness with a ruthless 11-2 demolition of Nazeing.
Man of the match Tahon, who had scored successive hat-tricks in Town's two previous matches, made it three in a row with five goals.
Hatfield applied early pressure and following a superb run and cross from Alex Edwards, Tahon finished clinically.
Anthony Cleaver then supplied another brilliant cross for Tahon to put his side two up. James Upson twice went close before Edwards added a third and then Tahon completed his hat-trick.
A plucky Nazeing side never gave up and a mistake by keeper Luke Crane allowed their centre forward a simple headed goal.
Hatfield hit back with efforts from Edwards and Tahon before Nazeing scored their second goal with a great finish from their dangerous centre forward just before half-time.
But the second half was nearly all Hatfield as goals from Upson, Tahon and a penalty from goalkeeper Crane, making amends for his earlier error, were followed by Tony Keast scoring his first goal for the club.
That made it 10 and in the dying minutes centre half Richard Albon, who had a superb game at the back, diverted Keast's shot into the net to complete the rout.
