The visit of Bedford next Thursday (April 30) stands between Hatfield Town and ensuring they will end the 2014/15 season as the only Spartan South Midlands League team to have remained unbeaten at home.

That is after goals either side of half-time from Ian Hurst and Jack Robertson earned the Blueboys a 2-1 victory against Risborough Rangers.

A valuable three points that also means two wins from their final two games would hand them promotion.

It took until the 42nd minute to see a breakthrough and it went the way of Hatfield. Ian Hurst coolly stepped up to convert a penalty following an altercation in the box.

Ten minutes after the break, Robertson had made it 2-0 and Hatfield were cruising to a 14th home win of the campaign.

Rangers did claw one back via Danny Gray in the 77th minute but Ashley Purser’s side held on for yet another valuable midweek three points.
