Hatfield Town celebrate Gary Warne's goal

Hatfield Town kept their unbeaten Spartan South Midlands League Division One streak going in gritty style, beating Bush Hill Rangers 1-0 at the Gosling Stadium on Tuesday night.

The goal did not come until the second half, with the mercurial Gary Sippetts notching five minutes after the interval.

Bush Hill had their chances but could not take them, handing Hatfield their 10th home win and a valuable three points with promotion rivals Bedford and Broxbourne both winning.

Ashley Purser’s men welcome fierce rivals and champions-elect Welwyn Garden City to the Gosling this Saturday. The Blueboys can temporarily put the buffers on WGC’s title challenge and in the process, add weight to their own charge, lying just three points behind Bedford with a game in hand.

WGC require just four wins from their final seven games to guarantee the title.
