WELWYN Garden City slipped to a 3-1 loss away at SSML Division One table toppers Cranfield United last night (Tuesday).

In what was always going to be a tough trip, City held their own in the first half with the score goalless at the break.

However, 10 minutes into the second period the hosts broke the deadlock through Paul Cooper.

Alex Baker then doubled United’s advantage and Nathan Peacock hit a third soon after.

WGC kept plugging away and did net a consolation through winger Jonathan Walsh, who has earned a trial in Samsung’s nationwide Win A Pro Contract competition in a bid to sign for Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon Town.

The result for Cranfield was their sixth consecutive victory in the league and took them to the top of the table, WGC are 12th in the standings.

City are away again on Saturday as they visit Kings Langley.
