Former University of Hertfordshire duo Danielle Carter and Jordan Nobbs netted as Arsenal Ladies romped into the SSE Women’s FA Cup final with a 7-0 hammering of Sunderland Ladies on Sunday.
Carter, nominated for this season’s Women’s PFA Young Player of the Year award, scored twice with Nobbs’ strike sandwiched between her efforts. Danielle van de Donk hit a superb treble.
Both outfits were reduced to 10-a-side with Emma Mitchell sent off for two bookable offences in the 33rd minute before Abby Holmes sliced down van de Donk to receive her marching orders.
Chelsea stand in the way of Arsenal’s 14th Women’s FA Cup triumph, with the pair set to square off at Wembley on Saturday, May 14.
Van de Donk bundled in the opener six minutes after Mitchell had been shown red.
Ten minutes after the break, the Gunners doubled their lead when Natalia Pablos Sanchon squared to Carter who poked home before Fara Williams slotted away a spot-kick.
Van de Donk completed her hat-trick either side of Nobbs’ smart 81st-minute finish.
Carter completed the rout in injury-time converting Kelly Smith’s cross.
