ALEX Scott and Kelly Smith featured for England last night in their 3-0 defeat to France which consigned them to an early exit from Euro 2013.

Scott played the full 90 minutes, while Smith came on for the last 30 minutes of the disappointing defeat.

The footballing pair, who live in Welwyn Garden City, would have had high hopes of success at this year’s tournament, as England went into it on the back of an 11-game unbeaten run.

However, things turned horribly sour for Hope Powell’s troops, who failed to record a win in Sweden.

The first game saw the Lionesses lose 3-2 to Spain, followed by a demoralising 1-1 draw with Russia, which was only rescued after a stoppage-time equaliser by Toni Duggan.

The France game was a bridge too far for a surprisingly subdued England side, as goals from Eugenie Le Sommer, Louisa Necib and Wendie Renard meant England finished bottom of Group C with a solitary point.
