Billy Adcock came back to haunt former club Aylesbury United as he notched a spectacular second-half volley to help Potters Bar Town book their place in the Red Insure Cup semi-finals for the first time ever.

The midfielder, who only joined Bar from United back in November, helped himself at the far post while on the run having been supplied by Chris Doyle’s superb cross-field pass.

Ashley Nathaniel-George’s powerful header from a Luke Warner-Eley corner 13 minutes before the interval got Bar off the mark after the visitors had soaked up some Aylesbury momentum including Lewis Osborne’s terrific 18-yard volley which crashed off the bar and was then hacked to safety.

The Ducks, currently second-bottom in Southern League Division One Central, pressed for an equaliser in the second period but both Bruno Brito and substitute Greg Williams shot off target before Adcock broke home hearts and substitute Jerry Maja ensured progression in the final minute with a close-range header.

Steve Ringrose’s men could face either Southern League Premier sides Cambridge City or Merthyr Town in the last four.
