Adam Fisher has made an instant return to football just a few short miles along the A414.

The former Welwyn Garden City manager has been appointed the new Hertford Town boss following the resignation of Gavin Kelsey.

Fisher was “forced to resign” his position in charge at Herns Lane after almost seven years at the helm on January 10.

Speaking on Twitter he said: “Delighted to be on board. The club called me this afternoon [Sunday] and asked if I would be prepared to come in at such short notice.

“And after discussions and reassurances I was happy to come in until the end of the season and review it from there.”

He added in a later statement: “I felt that I couldn’t turn down the opportunity, project and challenge.

“Hertford Town is a fantastic club with an unbelievable following and support base.”

His first game in charge comes tomorrow night with a derby clash with Ware in the Bostik League South Central Division.
