WHILE snow caused many sporting fixtures across the region to grind to a halt last week, one group were revelling in it.

A group of runners from fittlife got out and about in the snow across Times Territory for some of their sessions.

Fittlife members used the snowy downfall for another outdoor fitness running experience.

Ten brightly clothed torchless runners, all members of the ever growing fittlife squad, set off from Welwyn Garden City and headed for the Brocket Estate via Sherrardswood.

At midnight they were enjoying the glorious scenes from the snow covered bridge over looking the lake and Brocket Hall.

Suzy Fitt, fittlife leader and personal trainer, said: "I've been waiting for over two years to hold our second midnight off-road run.

"The snow gives off so much reflected light you don't even need torches.

"It gives good grip and a soft landing if you do slip.

"It really is quite something."

Knebworth mum-of-four Helen Moye took part in the snow and really enjoyed it.

She said: "It was magical. I've only been running with fittlife for six months and have enjoyed so many different experiences and my fitness has just soared.

"It definitely beats the gym."

Nicola Taylor added: "I felt as though I could have just carried on running.

"It was hard going out at that time but I am so glad I made the effort."

Fittlife's newly launched Absolute Beginners' running class also enjoyed the snow covered fields which transformed Hertfordshire's countryside into something resembling Switzerland.

Julie Stokes, who also took part, said afterwards: "I can't believe how much I'm enjoying the sessions and running in the snow was just lovely.

"I feel really inspired and it puts me on such a high for the rest of the day."
