Fine start for Hatfield & Crusaders as season opens with T20 Cup win

Hatfield & Crusaders Cricket Club got their competitive season off to a winning start with a comfortable 16-run victory over a strong Stevenage side in the Sunday T20 Cup.
They lost the toss and were put into bat at Ditchmore Lane but Heath Bond defied any early season rustiness with a fluent 40 in a fast start.
A middle order wobble had them at 74-5 with six overs left but they recovered to reach 135-5 at the close, thanks to an impressive 44 from 29 balls from Amit Singh, which included three sixes.
A disciplined opening from bowlers Rory Gethin-Golder and Ian Golder saw the hosts fall behind the required rate, and never recover.
Conor Hayward (37) provided some resistance until he was smartly caught by Gethin-Golder off the bowling of Preet Singh.
And tidy spells from Deepak Hasiza and Amit Singh, allied to some good fielding, ensured H&C ran out comfortable victors.
