LEWIS Hamilton found it too slippery when wet in today's rain-hit Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.

The 24-year-old McLaren Mercedes driver from Tewin suffered a serious of spins in the tricky conditions.

The F1 world champion admitted he made a number of errors and they cost him the chance of a surprise Shanghai podium.

"I made a few too many mistakes today," said Lewis, who crossed the line sixth as Sebastian Vettel claimed Red Bull's first grand prix victory.

"It was very slippery and my front-left tyre was finished long before the end, but I still gave it my best.

"This afternoon was a real struggle but I'm glad I got some points for the team."

Hamilton now heads to the Gulf for next Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir.
