England call for Welwyn Hatfield fencing duo

Two fencers from Welwyn Hatfield have been selected to join the England fencing squad for a tournament in Poland.

Gabby Karouzis and Evie Bullman, who compete for the Paul Davis Fencing Academy, will head to the 40th edition of the International Challenge Wratislava in March.

They will be joined by Oscar Hill, Oscar Mogie and Tom Raut, who are also part of the St Albans-based acadamy.

Also making the trip to help with their experience are fellow PDFA members Thisbe Danford, Tom Heath and Harry Mogie, all from St Albans.

And if that is not enough Luke Barbour will be joinging the team as trainee coach while Paul Davis himself will be part of the England coaching team.

In total 2,277 fencers from 32 countries will be heading to Poland.

In addition to the above, two PDFA fencers reached the podium at the Stratford-upon-Avon Leon Paul Junior Series.

Amy Heath achieved gold while Danford picked up the bronze.
