WGC 3rds 180-10 Met Police Bushey 154-10

ZIG Dolan claimed a spectacular nine-wicket haul as WGC 3rds defeated top-of-the-table Met Police Bushey on Saturday.

Steve Willis won the toss and decided to bat first in the Saracens Herts Cricket League Division Six clash.

Terry Edwards (26) and Mark Yates put on 41 for the first wicket before Edwards was adjudged lbw.

Willis and Yates put on another 43 before Yates was caught for 40.

Willis (24), Mankani (16), Joshi (12) and Dolan (16) all got starts, but the tail was marshalled by Josh Persaud, who scored a nice 31 to be second last out in the 53rd over. WGC were all out for 180.

After a decent opening spell, Saad Shaukat limped off the field having tried a Ronaldo-style run out and trod on the ball.

WGC were down to 10 men with the bowler most likely to take wickets with his foot in ice on the boundary.

Dan Mileham (1-27) made the breakthrough and Sunil Joshi bowled tidily.

But it was the introduction of Zig Dolan and youngster Liam Mitchell that helped create history.

Dolan's first ball was a leg-side wide, but after the end of the over Bushey were two down thanks to a fine caught and bowled. Mitchell bowled tightly and without luck from the other end and his figures from 10 overs of 0-26 went without reward.

But it didn't matter, as Dolan was in the middle of a magical spell, finishing with figures of 9-42.

He removed key bat Long with a beauty and had similar deliveries waiting for several of the Bushey batsmen.

Good catches by Persaud and Willis, and a stumping by Yates, left the home side struggling to win the match.

It was the Dolan-Yates combination that combined once again to provide the 10th wicket and 30 valuable points.
