WGC 4ths could only manage a draw against their Hertford counterparts in a tense game at Digswell Park.

Despite Matt Wells ending with bowling figures of 4-40, the hosts could not take the final Hertford wicket in the county derby.

WGC were put into bat first, and in truth scoring was slow with only 100 runs coming from the first 30 overs.

Steve Russell made 28, Dan Di-Lieto 31 and Stuart Primarolo 24 as WGC heavy work of the Hertford bowling.

All three were secure enough but not fluent.

A more aggressive approach from Marcel Mester, David Nolan and Ben Lamaison pushed the score to 170.

The WGC bowlers were always on top in reply, with Wells' spin taking the starring role with four wickets from only 12 overs.

But Hertford's batsmen stuck to the task well, and held the last wicket to draw the game, with WGC taking 15 points and their opponents from Balls Park ending with a 10-point haul.
