TURKEY Farm welcomed Aston for a Stevenage Mixed League match against Datchworth with the hosts winning 98-68.

Jim Whittle, David Thompson, Doreen Hodson-Smith and skip Steve Chamberlain played the last three ends in ever-darkening conditions as the night closed in.

It did not do them any favours. They were 25-9 up after 16 ends and looked in pretty devastating form.

Then the light started to fade and so did their form, as they lost the last five ends but held on to win 25-18.

Les Elms, Jean Cooper, Mike Mahoney and skip Basil Briars were 9-2 down after five ends.

They fought back to take the lead at 22-15 after 17 ends.

The four were still 23-18 up two ends later, but dropped a three and a four on the last two ends to lose 25-23.

Clive Hodson-Smith, Ros Wintle, Joan James and skip Brian Gilbert triumphed by 24 shots to 13.

Janet Mahoney, Chris Hills, Jim Adams and skip Steve Arnold took the lead 5-3 on the fifth end and had built the lead up to 13-5 after 11.

The group stretched their advantage to 23-9 and finished off by taking the game 26-12.

Overall Datchworth claimed victory by 98-68.
