DATCHWORTH Bowls Club suffered a 20-shot defeat, despite sharing two games apiece with Aston last Thursday.

The visitors claimed just two Stevenage Mixed League points from the match they lost 83-63.

Aston's opposition to Arthur Lewis, Doreen Hodson-Smith, Jim Adams and skip Brian Gilbert could do no wrong as they ran out 31-13 winners.

Les Elms, Jenny Thompson, Steve Arnold and skip Les Parsley had a much closer game with only one shot scored on 16 of the 21 ends.

A time when more than one was scored was when they picked up four on the 14th to take the lead 11-8.

They never lost the advantage after that, winning 17-12.

Clive Hodson-Smith, Ros Wintle, David Wright and skip Steve Chamberlain had a torrid time of it.

They only won six ends, as they were well beaten 26-11.

Gill Parsley, David Thompson, Joan James and skip Peter Hills triumphed 22-14.

However, it was not enough to claw back a result as the hosts ran out winners by 83-63.
