BOWLERS from Datchworth defeated Howard Gardens 101-66 at Turkey Farm in the Stevenage Mixed League.

The village bowls club won all four rinks, taking seven points in the process.

For the hosts, June Russell, Janet Mahoney, Neil Mean and skip David Wright were 10-1 ahead after five ends, then 20-11 up after 15.

They had their winning margin cut to three at the end, as they won 22-19.

Dawn Kingsland, Jim Russell, Basil Briars and skip Brian Gilbert won twice as many ends as their opposition as they ran out victors 23-14.

Mike Mahoney, Joan James, John Alden and skip Les Parsley averaged nearly three shots an end as they beat their opponents, who averaged two shots an end won. Datchworth won 30-18.

The fourth rink of Gill Parsley, Derrick Elms, Steve Arnold and skip Steve Chamberlain came from 8-1 down after six ends to record a fine 26-15 win.
