SOME impressive batting put Datchworth 2nds to the sword at Old Camdenians' home ground.

The Saracens Herts League Division Nine match between the two clubs' second teams took place at Burtonhole Lane.

Datchworth's weak batting once again meant they had a low total to defend. Adrian Bennett went early, bowled by Katan (2-18) for just three.

Will Nash (26) and Gary Hyams looked comfortable and the runs were starting to flow before Nash chased a wide full toss from change bowler Hetzel and was caught at cover.

Two run outs later Datchworth were reeling at 76-4.

Merv Croucher stayed with Hyams for a steady 18 before being caught at short leg.

Debutants Neil Taylor and Toby Cooper both followed before rearguard action in the form of four sweetly struck cover drives from Phil Freeman helped lift the total before he was run out for 18.

With 163 to beat, Camdenians wasted no time.

Gosden (68) and Katan (84 not out) took a shining to the pace of Saunders, whose figures of 0-53 from 10 overs hide how well he bowled, and the half volleys served up by Gibbs.

Gosden was caught at extra cover by Bennett before Katan finished the chase, in the same style as the 1st XI, with a straight six off the bowling of Herman Williams.
