SUNDAY will see more than 100 athletes take to the pool, ride around Potters Bar and pound the streets in the Furzefield Centre's charity triathon.

Approximately 150 participants are expected to take part in the race being run in aid of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.

All profits from the endurance event will be donated to the charity committed to improving the quality of life for those living with cancer, their carers and their families.

Triathletes will first of all have to complete a 400m swim in the Furzefield Centre pool.

This will be followed by a 20km bike around Potters Bar and the surrounding areas, taking in South Mimms and London Colney, before a 5km run from the Mutton Lane sports complex.

Participant and organiser Sharon West said: "This year the Furzefield Triathlon has special meaning as we are raising funds for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.

"I am looking forward to the challenge of taking part in my first triathlon and cannot wait to crawl across the finish line!
