Burden qualifies for Wuxi Classic in China

HATFIELD snooker player Alfie Burden will be heading to China to play in the Wuxi Classic next month.

The 36-year-old beat Grimsby’s Stuart Carrington 5-3 earlier today (Wednesday) at The Capital Venue in Gloucester to book his place in the final stages of the Wuxi Classic.

Burden and all 128 tour players started in the same qualifying round as part of a new format.

The Wuxi Classic will run from June 17-23 with the winner picking up a cheque for £80,000.

Other players to have also already qualified include Jimmy White, Mark Williams, Ricky Walden, Neil Robertson and nine-times world ladies’ champion Reanne Evans.
