A SECOND Hatfield swimmer has been selected for the Beijing Olympics.

Adam Brown will join Hatfield club colleague Richard Charlesworth on the flight to China later in the year.

Brown was added to the Team GB swimming squad by the British Olympic Association earlier this week.

He will compete in the 4x100m freestyle relay in Beijing after impressing at the recent British Championships and Olympic trials in Sheffield.

Charlesworth had already secured his qualification after winning the 1,500m freestyle at the national championships held at the Ponds Forge pool.

Brown said: "I am over the moon to have been selected for the Olympic team. It is a dream come true.

"Going into the British Championships I knew I had a chance to make it but thought it was an outside chance.

"It will be an amazing experience, especially as I look to prepare for 2012."

Brown and Charlesworth will become the Hatfield club's first Olympians since Mike Fibbens went to the Atlanta Games in 1996.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics will take place from August 8-24.
