Brilliant Beck on song for Herts Phoenix

SEVERAL Herts Phoenix athletes competed last weekend at the South of England U15 and U17 Championships held at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford.

Laura Armorgie continued her run of successes this summer by winning the U17 women’s high jump competition with a clearance of 1.70 metres.

U15 athlete Sophie Segun won a silver medal in the 200 metres final in a new personal best time of 26.36 seconds and in the U15 boys’ 1500 metres final Beck Grover improved his personal best time by a further two seconds to claim a bronze medal in 2:02.10 seconds.

Erin Breen also improved her personal best with a clearance of 2.70 metres in the U15 girls’ pole vault competition.

High Jump: Laura Armorgie -1st 1.70. U15 boys 800 metres: Beck Grover - Heat 1: 1st 2:10.02 – Final: 3rd 2:02.10pb. 1500 metres: Jamie Philpott - Heat 2: 5th 4:36.87. Long Jump: Bradley Hawthorn - 6th 5.70. U17 men 800 metres: Aaron Cooper - Heat 1: 4th 2:01.71 Final: 8th 2:01.47.
