HATFIELD fighter Billy Joe Saunders was today officially named as a member of the British team for this summer's Olympics.
And the teenager is aiming for medal glory in Beijing.
The British Olympic Association (BOA) confirmed earlier today in London the selected boxing members of Team GB for the Beijing Games.
Following his European Union success out in Poland at the weekend, Saunders will battle for Olympic success in the under 69kg welterweight category in August.
The teenager, who lives on a travellers' site in Hatfield, is looking forward to taking on the world's elite in China - and bringing back a medal.
Saunders said: "I can't wait to go to the Games and get in the ring to box the best in the world.
"I hope to win a medal in Beijing and then another in 2012."
Britain will have eight fighters out in China and Terry Edwards, the national boxing team leader for Beijing, is confident of medal glory.
"This will be my third Olympics, having taken two boxers to Sydney and securing a gold medal with Audley Harrison, and taking Amir Khan to Athens, where he won the silver medal.
"But now I'm now heading off to Beijing with eight boxers, which in my experience are the most talented team of GB boxers in recent years to compete at the Olympic Games.
"My expectations are high and I believe that we can deliver some great performances and if they box to their potential convert these performances to medals."
The 2008 Beijing Olympics will take place from August 8-24.
