Hatfield boxer Billy Joe Saunders has pulled out of his scheduled British and Commonwealth Middleweight title defence at the Copper Box next month due to a hand injury.

The 24-year-old picked up the problem in his last fight on September 21 against John Ryder, in which he secured a unanimous points decision following 12 rounds in the fight also at the former London 2012 Olympic Games venue.

The injury has not healed in time for the next show which has meant that he has had to withdraw.

Saunders’ clash has been replaced on the November 30 bill by Welshman Nathan Cleverly taking on Australian Daniel Ammann for the vacant Commonwealth Cruiserweight belt.
