Hatfield’s WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders is being eyed as a possible next opponent for Gennady Golovkin.
Having beaten Daniel Jacobs on Saturday night, Golovkin, who holds the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, wants to fight Saunders to unify the division’s belts.
Following his latest victory, the 34-year-old from Kazakhstan said: “Saunders is my dream fight for unifying all the middleweight titles.
“It is my ambition to take from him the only belt I am missing.”
Saunders seems keen to take on Golovkin who has won all 37 of his professional belts with 33 knockouts.
Saunders, who has 24 wins from 24 bouts since turning professional after representing GB at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, said on Twitter: “Didn’t watch the fight, but I’m ready.”
There is talk of a potential showdown between the two taking place in Golovkin’s home country this summer.
