YOUNG fighters from the new WGC Amateur Boxing Club have produced some knockout performances in their opening bouts.

Local schoolboys Tom Cox, Frank Hobdon and Clay Kentsley all won their first fights.

Stanborough School pupil Kentsley, 14, produced a telling blow to stop his opponent, Kemmy Danimore from the Blackbird Leys club in Oxford, in the second round.

Matt Young, also from Stanborough, didn't do so well and lost to his Watford opponent on the same bill.

Cox and Hobdon, however, were victorious in their fights in Southend.

Sir Frederic Osborn pupil Cox, 13, score an unanimous decision against home fighter Harry Sayers, who was having his third bout.

Hobdon, who goes to Nicholas Breakspear School, beat Clacton's Ross Hartman thanks to a majority decision after three rounds of 90 seconds each.
