Newly crowned WBO European super-featherweight boxing champion Mitchell Smith dropped in on his old club, Welwyn Garden City BC, on Monday night to show off his new belt.

The 22-year-old, nicknamed The Baby Faced Assassin, secured his latest title on the Bad Blood show at the ExCeL London as he claimed a unanimous points decision over Hungarian Zoltan Kovacs.

While with Welwyn Garden City, under coaches Paul Cook and Harry Carrick, Smith won the Senior ABA Championship 57kilos category in 2011.

He turned professional in 2012 and to date he has won all 10 of his fights winning the southern area and English super-featherweight titles prior to snaring the European belt.

Of his visit Smith said: “It was nice to see Harry and Paul, who I worked with, and the boys, some of them were there when I was training there and won the ABA title which changed my career.”
