There are strong rumours that Billy Joe Saunders could be set to fight Emanuele Blandamura for the European middleweight title.
Saunders, who has been out of action since a bruising domestic clash against John Ryder in September 2013, took to social networking site Twitter to give a clue about his next challenge.
The 24-year-old Tweeted: “Just got of the phone to frank and all looking good Hope to be European champion soon’ the team is working on Finalising everything!”
It is believed that would be against Blandamura, an unbeaten Italian 34-year-old, for the vacant title.
James DeGale, Saunders’ Beijing Olympic stablemate is the holder of the super middlweight title, but it is thought that fight may not be for some time yet.
Various boxing news-sites on the internet have speculated that Saunders v Blandamura is close. The WHTimes have contacted Frank Warren and are waiting for a response.
Saunders has been nursing a hand injury sustained in his successful British middleweight title defence against Islington’s Ryder last year.
However, the latest rumours seem to confirm the Hatfield boxer is over his injury and is ready to step up once again.
Saunders has 19 wins and no defeats since turning professional with Frank Warren.
