It was a night of celebration for Billy Joe Saunders last Monday as he collected his British Boxing Writers’ Best Young Boxer award at a presentation at the Savoy Hotel London.

The 24-year-old, who is scheduled to fight at the Copper Box Arena on November 30, was delighted to receive the award.

“Last Monday at the Savoy Hotel was a very special evening that will stay with me for my whole life,” said the unbeaten British and Commonwealth Middleweight champion.

“I’m honoured to have been awarded the Boxing Writers’ Young Boxer of the Year award at the star studded ceremony which was attended by countless champions from the past and present.

“It was really humbling to be amongst the great names of British boxing and I aim to fulfil their expectations as well as the boxing writers’ who nominated me by ultimately becoming a world champion.

“The award is currently sitting on my mantle piece at home next to my British, Commonwealth and WBO International title.”
