Shire Park Bowls Club (Tewin) hosted a charity match between Dennyside and the East Herts League.

And the league representatives ran out 114-103 winners with a home trip picking up the top rink award for them.

The beneficiaries were the Mudlarks charity in Hertford, who received £2,000 from Dave Lee of EHL and Chris Smith of Dennyside.

In the Welwyn Hatfield League, Shire Park Yellows took all six points at home to Hertford, while the Greens took four away to Hertford Wildcards.

The St Albans District competitions proved less favourable though for Mike Howe as his teams lost to WGC in the triples and Townsend in the fours.

They did pick up their first points in the Friday SADBA League with both club's home teams winning by three shots to leave the overall result a tie.

Gordon Price, Kevin Brazier and Bill Draycott were the Park winners.

Datchworth had two wins in the Welwyn Hatfield League.

The Greens won 32-28 at Hertford Castle Harlequins in Division One while the Yellows win 33-28 at Bengeo in Division Two.

Maureen Blunt, Dickie Jackson and George Campbell were the rink winners for the Greens while Phil Berry, Terry Metcalf and Steve Chamberlain came out on top.
