WELWYN and District Bowls Club are celebrating after winning the Bob Vise Trophy.

In a keenly fought contest at Harpenden Bowls Club, Welwyn and District defeated their derby rivals Hatfield to lift the trophy.

There was a victory in the singles for Mike Poole, while the fours of David Ratcliffe, John Lee, Barry Smith and Chris Sherriff also tasted success.

There was a draw in the pairs for Malcolm Baldwin and Sam Smith.

Those results were sufficient to ensure the win, leaving Phil Russell’s triples not needing to compete their game as the outcome of the final was already settled.
