Three second-half goals was enough to score Potters Bar a big victory against Bishop’s Stortford as they battle to stay in touch with the leaders at the top of the 5 Counties Women’s Hockey League Premier Division.

Bryony Michaelson, Shelley Eames and Amy Kee were all on target in the 3-0 success at Dame Alice Owen’s School.

The result moves Bar ahead of their east Herts rivals into fifth, just six points behind leaders Saffron Walden with six games to go.

They will be confident of at least maintaining that gap when bottom of the league head to Dame Alice for another home game on Saturday.

The club’s men are also in a battle in their league, although that is to avoid relegation from East League Division One.

And they took a massive stride forward with a hugely-impressive 2-2 draw at leaders Sudbury, Tom Clarke and Miles Tomkins getting their goals.

They are also at home on Saturday when Wisbech Town, the side two places below them, are the visitors.
