POTTERS Bar's bowlers scored good victories at home to both Cockfosters and Welwyn Garden City.

The bowls club's men scored a superb victory in their St Albans & District League match against WGC last Sunday, winning on all four rinks to capture maximum points.

Brian Bell, Derek Thomas, Alan Dick and Richard Winn just scraped home 22-21.

Bill Massey, Melville Pereira, Brian Hamshere and Terry Barker were more emphatic 28-11 winners.

Eric Brown, Jan Southwell, Steve Anchor and Ken Huntley took their rink 24-21 and Eric Marriner, Peter Gower, Martin Eccleshall and Roy Tansey won 23-12.

The month opened with a 54 shots to 37 victory over Cockfosters.

Mike Goodin, Derek Thomas and Ron Bushnell won 26-13 for the home team and Eric Brown, Martin Eccleshall and Ken Huntley were 17-8 winners.

Bill Massey, Melville Pereira and Charles Oates lost 16-11, but Potters Bar still took the overall spoils 54-37.
