Player-coach Kelly Smith has signed a new contract with Arsenal Ladies.
The striker has netted over 100 times for the Gunners during her three spells with the club, and is England Women’s all-time top scorer.
The 37-year-old will use her vast experience to assist manager Pedro Martinez Losa on the touchline, while continuing to be available for playing duties.
Smith, who lived in Welwyn Garden City for five years, spoke to the Welwyn Hatfield Times during the close season and had revealed her desire to continue playing, saying: “I would like to play another season.
“I’ve got some talks with Arsenal as to what my role is next year, it’s all in the balance at the minute.
“My body feels good, I’m going to see what both parties want, the general manager and Pedro and see where we go from there.”
