Archant

North Mymms Cricket Club almost snatched victory from the jaws of defeat but just came up short in their Saracens Herts County League Premier Division game at Bishop’s Stortford.

The hosts were going along quite nicely at 131-1 when suddenly the Mymms bowlers found their range.

The slowly started to take wickets and it needed Joe Hawkins to guide a nervous Stortford over the line with less than four overs to go and two wickets still remaining.

Dharmarajsinh Jhala (3-26) and Josh Crook (3-35) were the main wicket takers with Dan Millard claiming 2-32.

Mymms had won the toss and elected to bat and they started brightly.

Hamza Qayyum (31) and Hamza Ahmed put on 56 for the first wicket and then Nesan Jeyaratnam (38) joined with Ahmed to put on 60 for the second wicket.

But from there only a late rally from Jhala and Crook pulled Mymms to 184 all out.

They host Harpenden at Home Farm on Saturday.
