Hatfield snooker star Alfie Burden has recorded a first career 147.
The 39-year-old completed his first competitive maximum, also the 100th century of his career, while playing against Daniel Wells in the first round of the Coral English Open in Manchester on Tuesday.
It is thought at eight minutes 35 seconds, the clearance was the second quickest recorded behind Ronnie O’Sullivan’s five minutes 20 seconds landmark set at the 1997 World Championship.
Burden potted the 15 reds with blacks before clearing the colours and could be in line for a lucrative reward.
The competition has a £10,000 147 bonus prize plus £2,000 for the high break prize, as long as the maximum is not equalled this week that will go to the Hertfordshire player.
Despite the 147 Burden lost the match with Wells 4-3.
